Fred Masterson
Dr Masterson's main interests are animal learning. His interests within animal learning include memory, ethology and biological constraitns on learning. He is also interested in their motivational systems, avoidance behavior and species typical defence reactions as well as generalization of responce effort.
Dr. Masterson is also interested in the connections between human and animal intelligence, psycological measurement of motivation and mathematical models, artificial intelligence, and the psychological aspects of human-computer interactions and the human engineering of computer software systems. This new area of human factors research can be expected to grow in importance as the percentage of total computing costs attributable to software design (already over 80%) continues to rise.
